Statement of NCFC President and CEO Chuck Conner on the Nomination of Stephen Censky as Deputy Secretary of Agriculture

Washington, D.C. (July 14, 2017)—“America’s farmer-owned cooperatives strongly support the nomination of Steve Censky to be the Deputy Secretary at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Steve is a true champion of America’s farmers and ranchers and will be a fantastic addition to the team that Secretary Perdue is putting together at USDA.

“Based on my own experience, Steve will bring the knowledge, experience and dedication needed to manage the day-to-day operations of an agency as diverse as USDA. In his more than two decades of work with ASA, he led that organization through a period of dramatic change in the sector, one that saw a dramatic expansion of soybean acreage across the country and the establishment of an important export market in China. As Secretary Perdue continues to lay out his vision for a USDA that champions American producers both here at home and around the globe, Steve is the perfect candidate to help implement it.

“I look forward to working in support of Steve’s nomination through the process, and urge the Senate Agriculture Committee to take it up without delay.”
