Washington, D.C. (May 20, 2026)– National Council of Farmer Cooperatives (NCFC) President and CEO Duane Simpson today issued the following statement:
“On behalf of NCFC and the farmer-owned co-ops we represent, I want to thank Chairman Sam Graves and Ranking Member Rick Larsen for introducing the BUILD America 250 Act and for their bipartisan commitment to reauthorizing America’s surface transportation programs.
“America’s farmers and co-ops depend on this country’s transportation network every single day. This bill takes meaningful steps to modernize that network in ways our members have long supported — from improving regulations around agricultural equipment and drivers to strengthening rural road funding. It reflects an understanding of the challenges facing agricultural transportation today.
“As the Committee prepares to mark up this legislation, I urge members to advance the bill. NCFC looks forward to working with the Committee to see it across the finish line.”

About NCFC
Since 1929, NCFC has been the voice of America’s farmer cooperatives. Our members are regional and national farmer cooperatives, which in turn consist of more than 1,600 local farmer cooperatives across the country. NCFC members also includes state and regional councils of cooperatives.
Farmer cooperatives allow individual farmers the ability to own and lead organizations that are essential for continued competitiveness in both the domestic and international markets. America’s farmer-owned cooperatives provide a comprehensive array of services for their members. These diverse organizations handle, process and market virtually every type of agricultural commodity. They also provide farmers with access to infrastructure necessary to manufacture, distribute and sell a variety of farm inputs. Additionally, they provide credit and related financial services, including export financing.
