Although we have been around much longer, the Oklahoma Agricultral Cooperative Council, Inc. was incorporated in October 1973. The primary focus was to help cooperatives form and become viable. The Cooperative Council served as a public relations tool for all agricultural cooperatives in Oklahoma and educated local directors about how to manage their companies. In 1987, the Cooperative Council hired their first full-time Executive Director. The primary purpose of hiring a full-time Executive Director was to give agricultural cooperatives a voice in the legislative and regulatory process. Since that time, the Cooperative Council has not gotten far from its roots. Today, the Cooperative Council still offers manager and director education for local boards of directors all over Oklahoma, and still acts as a voice for agricultural cooperatives in the legislative and regulatory affairs process.
